Ethan Chen

I start and lead projects that give young people better tools for their attention, their health, and their voice in the world.

I am a civic-minded leader who translates complex, abstract systems and legislation into accessible, practical solutions that empower communities. After a year of research on adolescent mental health at CCAMH, I wanted to move the findings into action, so I founded Mental Detox, a nonprofit that turns that research into essays, sessions led by clinicians, and an ambassador program over 150 students strong.

The same instinct runs through the rest. I co-founded my school's Interact Club and led local and international service projects, including delivering water filters and water safety education to kids in Morelia, México. In Model UN, my proudest moment was not winning an award. It was running our school's first conference, built on a year of parliamentary procedure workshops for delegates who had the ideas but not yet the vocabulary, and seeing it draw local students into policy discussions.

I care about doing this honestly. Evidence behind the claims, credit to the people who build it with me, and something still standing after I graduate.
